UPS to Resume Refund Program for Late and Missed Deliveries

UPS to Resume Refund Program for Late and Missed Deliveries

UPS Refund Late Deliveries

The pandemic changed everything in the world of transportation. But there is hope on the horizon as the U.S. surpasses milestone after milestone for the vaccine rollout and e-commerce growth. As such, UPS has taken the step to reinstate its money-back guarantees for late or missed deliveries starting April 5, 2021, reports Mark Solomon of FreightWaves. The move comes as a surprise for an industry that’s struggled to expand and keep up with demand for more than one year. UPS is the only major carrier to have reinstated its guarantee thus far. Specifically, UPS further specified which services are eligible for the guarantee:

“Effective April 5, 2021 the UPS Service Guarantee will be reinstated only for UPS Next Day Air services (UPS Next Day Air® Early, UPS Next Day Air® and UPS Next Day Air Saver®) and UPS Worldwide Express services (UPS Worldwide Express NA1®, UPS Worldwide Express Plus®, UPS Worldwide Express®, UPS Worldwide Express Saver®, UPS Worldwide Saver, UPS Worldwide Express Freight® Midday and UPS Worldwide Express Freight®).

Note: Until further notice, the guaranteed delivery time for UPS Next Day Air Saver® deliveries has been extended to end-of-day (11:59 p.m. on the guaranteed day of delivery). The Service Guarantee remains suspended for all other UPS shipments from any origin to any destination.”

It’s a remarkable feat to consider. UPS delivers roughly 17 million daily packages. And there’s a strong backing behind UPS in 2020. According to Equities, UPS rose 1.11% in the stock market in late March. And this latest move will undoubtedly result in a stronger trading path for the current week and through the season.

What About Other Costs

UPS is further on track to reinstate additional handling and large package surcharge rates for non-Hundredweight Service packages based on zone on April 11, 2021, says UPS. And the company will further reinstate handling surcharges for HundredWeight Service packages based on zone on July 11, 2021 as well.
