AI at IA: From Hype to Real-World Impact

Artificial intelligence isn’t just another buzzword in logistics. But it’s also not a silver bullet. At Intelligent Audit, we’ve been working with AI years before the hype cycle took over, applying it in targeted, measurable ways that deliver real ROI for shippers.

Guiding that vision is our Chief Product Officer, Brian Pollack, PhD. Brian earned his doctorate in Experimental Particle Physics from Northwestern University, where he performed machine learning research for rare signal detection at the world’s most advanced particle accelerators, including Fermi National Laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory, and the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland.

From there, he pivoted into AI and deep learning in healthcare, building computer vision algorithms at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh that enabled machines to read MRIs and diagnose liver disease. Since 2021, Brian has brought that same scientific rigor to Intelligent Audit, where he transforms AI from a buzzword into a tool that measurably improves shipping operations. He has even collaborated directly on projects with OpenAI, giving him a front-row seat to the cutting edge of machine intelligence.

AI in Practice, Not Theory

Over the past year, we’ve shared perspectives from industry leaders like Bart De Muynck, explored how AI adds an extra layer of protection against fraud, and addressed what AI can (and can’t) do.

But one of the most powerful applications Brian and our team are focused on is Anomaly Detection. Traditional analytics will show issues after the fact, once they've mounted, but AI-powered anomaly detection surfaces suspected fraud, unexpected cost spikes, and erroneous behaviors in real time, so shippers can act before problems spiral into major costs.

From Concept to Case Study

These are measurable outcomes, not hypotheticals.

Brian Pollack will share more during our upcoming webinar with CEO, Hannah Testani, and VP of Client Success, Megan Bishop, AI in Action: Catching Fraud, Errors, and Glitches Before They Cost Millions.

They’ll unpack where AI is delivering ROI today, how anomaly detection is reshaping supply chain strategy, and what shippers need to know to separate reality from noise.
